Photo Books – New Black Background Option!

Our photo book product has always been one of the most ordered items and an abolsute favorite particularly for our event photographers and their clients. One of the most popular items just got a whole lot better …

photobooks 300x189 Photo Books New Black Background Option!

Originally, when ordering a photo book, clients had the option of choosing one of 5 different colors for the cover and back of the photo book and adding up to 49 images which would be printed inside. Each of these internal pages would have a white background and allow for black text.

We have now added the option of selecting either a white or black background color for the internal pages of your photo book! If the new black background is selected, text will be printed in white on these pages making for a fantastic impact.

As always, your feedback and suggestions are always welcome so feel free to share your comments on this page or contact us directly if there's something you would like to see added to the Photostockplus service.

If you would like to stay up to date with all of the latest updates, be sure to subscribe to our blog or follow us through Facebook or Twitter!

Enjoy the new black background photo books! I have to say, they really do look great 😉

Stock Photography – Are you on the Buyer’s Schedule?

There is a commonly overlooked timing factor when shooting stock photography. Often times, photographers will take seasonal shots within the season itself like a box of chocolate in February and a snowy landscape in December. If you are looking to sell stock photography, this is the biggest mistake you can make. You’re too late!

A large market for stock photographers is the magazine industry where a photo buyer’s needs tend to be anywhere between 3-4 months earlier than the actual period. For example, a summer issue for a magazine needs to be written and prepared months in advance for it to be ready for a summer release. They need the shots when they are putting the magazine together, not once the final draft is being duplicated.

In order to assure your best chance at selling stock images, you have to get onto the buyer’s schedule and provide these seasonal shots much earlier.

January – Mid-March

New and Improved Coupons Are Here!
coupons New and Improved Coupons Are Here!

Client coupons have always been one of the most used and popular marketing features with our photographers here at Photostockplus. They are a fantastic way to promote your business and entice new and repeat customers to purchase your images and custom photo gift items. And who are we kidding, everyone likes a little freebie once in a while am I right  …

We have taken this popular feature and kicked it up a notch giving you added flexibility and control over even more details than ever before! Take a look at the bottom screenshot of the new coupon creation page which includes 2 new highlighted features which will be explained in this post:

couponnewfields1 New and Improved Coupons Are Here!

Minimum Order Capability

One of the comments we've received from our users is that they wanted to be able to set a minimum order before clients can redeem a coupon. Consider the wait over. The first of the 2 new fields we will be discussing is a minimum order amount field:

minimumorderfield New and Improved Coupons Are Here!

This custom field allows you to set a dollar value as the minimum order needed in order for a client to use the coupon. For example; if you create a new coupon with a value of $10 and enter a minimum order value of $50, clients will only be able to use these coupons on orders with a total amount of $50 or more.

If you do not wish to place a minimum order amount, you may leave this field blank. You should take into consideration however that anyone would be able to use a $10 coupon on an order of $10 or a few pennies more which a fair chunk of it would probably be actual product and shipping cost with a small portion of it your actual profit. In this case, you would loose money on such an order by providing these types of coupons.

To avoid this, we suggest always using this minimum order amount and setting it a few times that of the actual coupon value, making sure the coupon can never surpass your profit and put you in a situation of loosing money on an order.

Minimum order amounts are a great way to encourage larger orders from your clients and the small discount will easily be worth that big order!

Unlimited Use Coupons

Previously, each coupon you would create would generate a unique coupon code. No two clients would be able to use the same coupon code for different orders.

While this helps in controlling your coupons, this can also limit things on a larger scale. As an example, if you are at an event and would like to pass around printed coupons to the audience, each coupon would have had to have a unique code printed on it making mass printing and coupon creating a nightmare.

With this new feature, you can now set a coupon as an 'unlimited use' coupon which will create a single code with the same parameters making it easy to distribute and re-use as many times as you want without having to re-create individual coupons or keep track of hundreds of codes:

unlimitedusefield New and Improved Coupons Are Here!

When creating a coupon, simply tick the box to set the coupon as 'unlimited use'. In this situation, the 'quantity' field must remain as '1' since only 1 code will be generated. If you set a different value for 'quantity', the system will automatically set it back to '1' so really, there is no way to mess this up 🙂

This feature is perfect for larger scale event photographers or even on a smaller scale where you may see yourself creating the same type of coupon over and over again.

One thing to keep in mind with this feature is that the 'minimum order amount' field is very important. As mentioned previously, you always want each coupon to assure only being applied in a situation that is profitable for you. Setting the minimum order amount a few times that of the actual coupon value should do the trick. Not setting these values can run you into trouble. For example, with an unlimited-use coupon of $20 and no minimum value set, a client can split up a $100 order into 5 orders and apply the coupon to each one, making his shopping spree completely free! This is easily avoidable by making it a habit of always setting an appropriate minimum order value.

We hope you enjoy the new features and as always, your feedback and suggestions are more than welcome so feel free to comment on this post or email us directly if there is a feature or function you would like to see added to Photostockplus!

New Feature! Add Custom Content on Your Contact Page!

Thanks to some great feedback and ideas from the Photostockplus community, we have added yet another feature to our system this week giving you even more control and customization options for your Photostockplus storefront!

Add Custom Content to Your Contact Page!

Have specific business hours? Want to provide your visitors with additional ways to get a hold of you? Want to tell the world where your business is located? Whatever it is, you can now add content to your heart’s desire on to your contact page.

How to Add Content to Your Contact Page?

Once logged in to your Photostockplus account, click on the ‘Customize Website’ found below the ‘Marketing Tools’ section. Scroll down to the ‘Contact Page Content:’ and start adding that content. It’s just that easy!

HTML and Flash Compatible!

The newly added ‘Contact Page Content’ field provides you with the same flexibility as your Header and other Content fields which accepts complete text formatting, HTML coding and even flash.

We recommend all users to take a few minutes to set up additional contact page content. It’s a well invested 5 minutes to possibly provide a much more positive user experience for those clients who prefer calling in or sending an email directly with questions rather than using a contact form.

Many more features are under development and regular articles are being added in our Photography Articles section so if you haven’t yet, be sure to Subscribe to this Blog or follow us on Facebook or Twitter for all of the latest updates and articles!

We love hearing from our users so feel free to comment on this post, throw in your suggestions, or even email us directly if there’s something you would like to see added to the Photostockplus service and who knows, you may see it in the next feature update!

Customize your “Main Site” link

You can now customize the “Main Site” button on your site to link to another webpage. This can be useful if you are using your own URL to promote your business. The “Main Site” Link appears in Groups or in Events were you set the “Include link to Main Site” option while creating an event. To change the default link which is your photostockplus.com gallery you can visit the “Admin’ Section and the click “Customize Website” under the “My Account” tab. You will then see the Custom "Main Site" link: Simply change the URL here and then scroll to the bottom and hit “Update Website”

We hope you will find this feature helpful.

“Home” button links on gallery update.

Well… we have been talking about this for some time. Because photstockplus.com allows you to have a Main Gallery site, Groups, Sub-Groups, Event and Sub Events we feel that the “Home” button is something that is not completely clear.

As it stands, when you are in an Event or Group there is a “Home” Button that brings you back to the Events home page (not your main site). You can decide to include a link back to your Main Site within events by ticking the box next to “Include link back to homepage” when setting up the event. If you do not do so people can not get back to your main site. Some people prefer to keep their events or groups as independent entities.  If you do tick the link to home page option the link shows up in the form of a text link at the top of the site saying “Return to home page”. We still have a link at the top left of site saying “Home” which brings you to the same events home. Confused?

In order to make things clearer… we have decide to change the link that appears in the top left of all your galleries to say “Gallery Home”

If you decide to include a link back to your home page when setting up an event or if you have it set that way by default it will add a button at the top left above “Gallery Home” that will read “Main Site”

We feel this is more descriptive and easier for people to understand. Please feel free to share your thoughts.

Thank you

Reporting Tool Update

We have modified the way we show events in the Reporting Tool.
Volume shooters will find it much easier to find Events now. Simply login and visit the “Admin” section. You will find a link to “Reporting Tool” on the right side under the “My Account” tab. Groups are now identified as (Group) and Sub Folders are listed below.

We have also added the ability to report by “Groups”
The Group reporting will only show the Events listed in the Group but will also report on the sub Events if those Events have Subs within them. It will not report on any Sub Groups. You can simply run those individually if detail is needed. Of course you can still run overall reports at any time with the date range reporting by selecting “All Events” in the drop down menu. We simply added this extra step of reporting for those that are using Groups rather than Sub Events to organize galleries.

New Photostockplus Photoloader – It’s Here!

We are committed to saving you time with your photography business and are proud to share with you the all new Photostockplus Photoloader tool!
It’s faster, more robust, can upload over 3,000 images an hour and now incorporates these great new additions:

Drag and Drop
It is now easier than ever to upload images using the Photoloader tool with its new drag and drop capabilities. Simply open the Photoloader tool and drag a folder from your computer containing the images you wish to upload into the main window of the tool. An album will be automatically created in the location you choose using the name of the folder. Thumbnails will start generating and all you’re left to do is hit the “Start Upload” button!
This feature is great for event photographers shooting multiple events as you will now be able to drag multiple folders at once, automatically creating an album hierarchy in seconds!

Default Event Album Settings
You can now set default event album settings which will be applied automatically to newly created event albums. This is particularly useful for event photographers using the newly added drag and drop feature of the Photoloader tool as this will apply your settings to each newly created event album! Simply head on over to your “Customize Website” section and set those defaults!

New Maximum File Size
You wanted it so here it is. We have increased the maximum image file size from 12 Megs to 20 Megs!

Multiple User Upload
For users with multiple Photoloader accounts, you may now have multiple users upload their images with the Photoloader tool to one central account at the same time, eliminating the need to coordinate uploading!

Mac Photoloader Tool
We have now added the same speed, functionality, and newly added features from the PC version of the tool to the Mac platform so you can expect a smoother and exponentially faster Mac Photoloader tool!

We hope you enjoy these new additions and welcome your feedback as we are always looking for more ways to save you time and accommodate your needs.

If you require additional information on any of these new additions, please don’t hesitate to contact our service team who are always here to help.

There are more great additions in the works so if you haven’t yet, be sure to subscribe to our RSS feed and follow us through our Twitter and Facebook page to receive all of the Photostockplus service updates as they are available!
